Which is the Best Parrot to Train
    February 16, 2010

Parrots are the most beautiful birds with great coloured plumage, they make fantastic pets. Getting a parrot to sing for the first time is a really entertaining experience. They live long years and have life spans of around sixty to a hundred year. You can stay witht he parrot for the rest of your natural life. These are the best types of parrots to train. If you are interested in any other type then please get our parrot training newsletter and know it all.

    African Grey

These parrots are medium sized and are usually of a greyish colour. Sometimes they have a red tail and red wings along with their grey bodies. This parrot is great for speaking. They can speak in accents and make adorable noises. Unfortunately not all Grey’s will speak. It has been known for Grey’s not to show any sign of talking. They are generally loud and screaming birds who need lots of attention from our side to become bonded to us. Once bonded, the bird will be loyal and will love you more than you can think possible.

    Conure

These parrots are small sized and have very big tails attached to their bodies. You can find them in many different colours and are smart. They love to fool around, clown others and play endlessly. They can be quick learners and good to train. They can be taught to speak but need a lot of care and attention. The down side of these parrots are that they are best suited for owners who can pay them a lot of attention and constantly accompany them; basically owners who spend most of their time at home.

This is because they need to be trained every day, for several hours, to stop them biting and be sociable. These birds like to screech a lot. Give them a lot of attention to prevent this.

    Macaw

These parrots have been known to survive for about more than fifty years and knowing this you should be ready for a long relation with your bird. Get a big cage because this is a big parrot. To ensure that the parrot is happy get a tall cage. To let this parrot get to know the family beter, let it out of its cage so it can fly around. It will be much happier.

it has a powerful snapper and ike to bite on things. Therefore you have to be careful they don’t destroy your furniture. You need to stimulate this parrot so get it some toys and rotate them.

Remember parrot training is important, never neglect your parrot or you could end up with parrot behaviour problems.

Based on our experience, Macaws are much intelligent and easier to care than our African Grey. It could be our African parrot’s personality but he’s little bit messy and sometimes aggressive which makes him harder to train and care, but he’s definitely one good pet and very funny too.
